From Watching on the Sidelines to Capturing Every Moment with ScoreLive

My son joined his school soccer team when he was in second grade. Ever since then, whenever he puts on his jersey and steps onto the field—running, competing, and giving everything he has for his team—I’ve wanted to be there on the sidelines to see it for myself.

But like many parents, I also have a job. On game days, I would often keep a YouTube livestream open while I worked, checking in whenever I had a chance.

“What’s the score?”

“Did someone just score?”

“Is my son on the field right now?”

And whenever work got busy, I’d look away for a few minutes, come back to the stream, and realize I had just missed the best play of the game. I think a lot of parents who can’t always make it to their kids’ games know exactly what that feels like. Your child is out there giving it everything they have, while you’re somewhere else watching a tiny livestream window and hoping you don’t miss the moment that matters.

Looking for a Better Way to Livestream Games

Later, when I had the opportunity to help livestream games from the field, I started trying different streaming apps. I tested quite a few, hoping to find something that really worked for soccer. Most could stream the video, but something always felt like it was missing.

So I started sending feedback to the person behind ScoreLive. What surprised me was that the response was never just, “Thanks for the suggestion.” Instead, they wanted to understand.

How are you actually using this during a game?

What problem are you running into?

Why would this feature matter?

What would make it work better in a real game situation?

And after many of those conversations, I began seeing some of those ideas and improvements appear in later updates. As a user, that means a lot. You realize someone is actually listening—not just collecting feedback, but using it to make the product better.

Great Software Is About More Than Features

To me, great software isn’t just about having more features or a better-looking interface. It’s also about listening to the people who actually use it. The parents standing on the sidelines know what it’s like to operate a livestream while following the game. They know what needs to be fast, what needs to be simple, and what matters when everything is happening at once.

That’s what I appreciate about ScoreLive.

It doesn’t feel like a product that was simply built and finished. It feels like something that continues to grow alongside the people who use it. I started out simply looking for a better way to livestream my son’s soccer games.

Today, ScoreLive has become an important way for us to record those games and share the moments that matter. And I’m grateful I found it. Because as parents, what we really want to preserve isn’t just the final score. It’s the sight of our kids running across the field. It’s the moment they give everything they have.
